Blog 5: Changes to my study programme
Hii!!! Today we will talk about
the changes I would make to my curriculum. To begin with, I am in the fourth
semester of my dentistry degree at the University of Chile.
One thing I would do to make the curriculum
"better" is to have a better step from the skills development and
self-care branch for professional exercise 2 (first year) and the simulations
branch for professional exercise 1 (second year). year) since I personally find
that it was VERY difficult to deal with things that we had not seen so well and
that we did not have the necessary practice to do things with the materials.
Something especially important in these branches that are practical is that as
a generation we had almost the entire first year online, so it is most likely
that the other generations will not be so complicated with this branch.
Another thing that I would change is
the branch of scientific and clinical bases for diagnosis since, according to
me, it covers a lot and it is TOO MUCH a load that it entails, so perhaps it
would be a good idea to divide it.
Now talking about the load of the
race, personally when I entered the race I felt that it was a lot (and I still
feel it hahaha) but the truth is that you can get along "well" almost
always if you know how to organize, which has made me past is that it is
difficult to allocate time between branches since we have branches that are
VERY time-demanding, which makes it difficult to give the other branches the
time they deserve.
In my opinion, the facilities of the
faculty are insufficient, since there are many students and few rooms or
auditoriums, in addition, there are always MANY people in the casino and there
are not enough tables so that everyone can have lunch or eat well.
The use of technologies in the
faculty could be better but it is not so bad either, what is really needed is
to modernize the preclinical ones and from what I know there are also things
missing in the clinic.
Another VERY important issue is the
teaching method, according to me it is very similar to other university
degrees, where there is a quite big difference is in the practical part where
we need A LOT the guidance of the teachers, who usually make demonstrations or
help us solve problems with our preclinical practices.

organisation is important for the university, but the truth is that it is often impossible to organise everything well
ResponderEliminarHi frieeend, as for teaching as you comment, it is very true, leaving much to be desired on some occasions.
ResponderEliminarI totally agree with you about the infrastructure. In fact, to give evaluations they have to divide us into different rooms, otherwise we would all be very close together.
